See who Nigeria’s Black Stallions Sevens Would Have Played against to qualify for Rio 2016
Nigeria’s rugby team the Black Stallions 7s will need to play in a global qualifier tournament ahead of Rio 2016, if they had qualified from the Africa zone in Johannesburg, in November.
The event, slated for 18-19 June, 2016, will have Monaco play host to 16 teams from across the world who will compete for one remaining spot ahead Rio 2016.
Zimbabwe, who won the Africa qualifier event, will contend for the one spot, against the other 15 teams. Zimbabwe’s sevens team defeated Nigeria 25 – 20, to qualify for the final, at the quarter-final stage.
If Nigeria had won from the Africa zone, these are the other 15 teams they would need to compete against in the global qualification process. The teams include: Uruguay, Chile, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Russia, Germany, Ireland, Hong Kong, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tonga, Samoa, Zimbabwe*, Morocco and Tunisia.
The magnificent Stade Louis in Monaco, will host the men’s tournament.
