TECHIMAN CITY FC GET OILY BOOST AHEAD GHANA PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON
Newly promoted Ghana Premier League soccer club Techiman City FC, have secured a sponsorship deal with Nasona Oil Limited, according to reports.
According to Ghanasoccernet.com, the deal is expected to run for two years and is estimated to be worth as much as US$90,000 in total.
“This sponsorship from Nasona Oil Company Limited will go a long way,” said club president Charles Kwadwo Ntim.
However, in a related report monitored on allsports.com. gh, Alhaji Shaibu Abuba, Managing Director, Nasona Oil, initially disclosed that while a deal has been agreed with Techiman City FC, they are yet to put pen to paper to seal the deal.
"We have agreed a deal with Techiman City but no document has been signed yet," Alhaji Abuba is quoted as saying on allsports.com.gh.
Nonetheless, Techiman City FC is facing an appeal case with the Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and Alhaji Abuba says the success of the appeal will largely determine the tilt of the sponsorship deal between the club and the oil company.
Abuba however, makes efforts to tone down on the likelihood of backing out of preliminary agreement for the deal. "I must add that the contract will still be signed even if they are not successful with their appeal, but it will be on a different condition. Playing in the premier league is different from the Division One," the Nasona helmsman said.
"We are looking to grow our brand and for us, having our logo on Techiman City will be a plus to the company. The club will provide us the platform to be known across the country," Abuba said.
Techiman City FC is one of three clubs promoted Ghana Premier League sides this season, after winning Ghana’s Zone One league. The new season begins later this month.
“This will alleviate the financial burden on the club and also motivate the players ahead of the Ghana Premier League,” Kwadwo Ntim said, stressing that a deal has been signed.
