StarTimes Locks Down Rights To FIFA World Cups
StarTimes Nigeria, has secured TV rights to a number of FIFA soccer tournaments.
In a statement posted on the broadcaster’s website, this month's FIFA U20 World Cup from New Zealand will be televised so also will the FIFA Women's World Cup from Canada, both in June.
The cable operator says these exclusive rights will “excite its Nigerian subscribers and offer them fantastic sports actions and entertainment.”
The FIFA U17 World Cup from Chile in October and November will enjoy coverage courtesy of StarTimes. In addition, the pay-tv presenter will show the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup from Portugal from 9th to 19th July, and live coverage of the preliminary draw for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on 25th July.
Star Sport Premium, a new sports-dedicated channel will be launched to carry the games, with further channels to be added soon. The company has plans to unveil three other sports channels soon.

"Our drive will be recharged by these new sport channels and renewed vision to boost sport offerings."
